Hues in the Wind

for Flute, Viola and Harp

Product no.: 320.67247

"Hues in the Wind" from Un Aliento de Color (A Breath of Color) was commissioned by harpist Marina Roznitovsky and is inspired by the image of leaves dancing with each other in a breeze. I imagined each instrument as a special color which plays a character in the work. While the flute and viola serve as the playful leaves, the harp symbolizes the fickle wind which carries the leaves in its gusts. As each character collides with the other, noises and bursts are created which are shown musically through harp knocks, flute overblowing , percussive accents, and fluttertongue. The journey these three take includes playful and songlike escapades, whirlwind bursts, and a steady calm.
