Samuel Scheidt is best known in the brass world for his Canzon Bergamasca and Galliard Battaglia played by brass quintets all over the world. This piece works great for 6 trumpets with the melodic line often passing back and forth between the two choirs of three trumpets each. The top line could be played on piccolo trumpet or on E-flat trumpet.
