The titleThis piece consists of three movements. Due to the variety of elements offered it is particularly suitable for use as a "competition piece": hence the title, "Contest Music". "Intrada": A brilliant fanfare introduces the piece, subsequently intertwining with the melodic elements of the allegro spiritoso that follows, in a graceful and carefree atmosphere. "Lullaby": a sweet lullaby dedicated to a little girl. "Gaily": a joyful finale characterised by a lively rhythmic structure.
