As children, everything looked bigger: a simple game could become a heroic adventure, the neighbor’s garden an insidious jungle, and adults dangerous giants. Inspired by these memories, the composer tells in music an experience that he lived at a very young age. The little boy, in camouflage clothes and armed with a toy gun, ran away from home and went by bicycle to the orchard of a farmer (Allegro molto); once he entered the orchard, he began his search into the lush and fragrant vegetation (Adagio misterioso) finding the precious treasure: a raspberry bush. He did not even have time to eat a couple of berries when the farmer, furious, already appeared behind him, (Agitato, frenetico); a wild flight through the plants of the orchard ensued. With his heart pounding, the little soldier finally managed to disappear without a trace and safely return home (Finale: eroico!) completing his fearless mission: enjoying the taste of raspberries and adventure.
